I developed chapped lips around 6 mos. post-op. It has a lot to do with not
drinking enough water. We need that water intake now, more than ever. I
sleep with vaseline on my lips at night and that seems to help. I have also
increased my water intake. Dawn

I can't help but notice that all my skin is extremely dry to the point of
flaking. I use a good moisturizer every night and morning but nothing helps
much. I try to get in my water but that amount is so much that I am having
a really herd time. I am going to try to increase me water and see if it
doesn't help. Thanks for the great question!!!!!

SHUUUT UPP!!! LOL, I thought that was a fluke!! I've never in my life had
chapped lips, right before I went into surgery I put Carmex on my lips just
becasue I remembered from my last surgery that my lips cracked from the
'thing' they put in my mouth. This time I was prepared. Now 11 days out
and my lips are in horrible shape, cracked peeling skin and my water intake
is actually excessive (I'm always so thirsty) What do you think it is?

Vaseline? Here in the United States we have a lipstick-type product called
Chap-stick to treat chapped lips. I'm sure you can find it online
somewhere.

YES! From the anesthesia. From our slow water habits and if you are RNY,
you are malabsorbing many of your fats 'n oils, more if you are fat free.
Using a dry E supplement may help your skin, 800IU per day. Using a smooth
product like Bonne Belle Lip gloss moisturizes mine, the lips from the
dessert.
