Question:
Has anyone had changes in their food intake?
Surgery was07/05/00. Up until mid november I was losing 4 or 5 pounds per week. My stomach would not hold much and food got "hung up" alot which allowed me to keep food intake down to 1000 to 1300 calories per day. Suddenly in mid november that all changed. My weight loss gradually slowed and now I have started gaining. I used to be able to feel the food in my pouch when I ate. Now it feels like the food moves further down into my abdomin completely out of my pouch as soon as I eat it. Since I don't have the full pouch feeling any more I am compelled to bing eat like I did before my surgery. If anyone has had this experience or can tell my what my problem is, please email me at [email protected]. I will not be able to bear gaining my weight back. I feel that something has gone wrong with the surgery. PLEASE HELP! Kim — kim W. (posted on February 25, 2001)

When my staple line disrupted, I could also "feel" things in
places that I had not felt things before. I also had acid, pain &
nausea with mine. And EGD is the clearest way to tell. IMHO, less
cumbersome and inconvenient, too. We do NOT outeat our staple lines, as a
rule. The body simply rejects the staples. So, ditch the guilt that you
may feel or someone may put on you, and just proceed the same way you would
if you had any other mechanical failure.
