Question:
2 wks post op foods...can I ruin my surgery?
I feel full all the time... I don't eat much, I am two weeks post op ... I feel I caneat anything. I was very cautious the first week. Then I had some chicken... then I realized I can eat solids fine. I don't eat much, but I feel soooo full when I do eat that I am worried I can ruin the surgery. Yesterday for example I had 2 protein drinks and 2 small slices of fat free turkey rolled in Lite swiss cheese. 1 slice lunchmeat and 1 slice of cheese rolled together. The turkey and chs. was a total of 20 grams of protein and was two different meals. I took in a total of maybe 400 calories, but I do not feel as if I am losing now... is that because I always feel full and it just comes off anyway. I purposely do not have a scale because I do not want to be obsessed. I lost 20 lbs in the first six days, but I just don't "feel" the loss now and I feel like I am doing someth ing wrong...is it normal to feel this way???? I am doing all that I am told. Lap RNY. I hope this made sense. — Patricia C. (posted on February 22, 2001)

Relax! I'm sure some will freak out at what you are eating already! But,
I was on regular food at 2 weeks -- except I did have to wait 2 more weeks
for raw fruits and veggies. Soon though, you need to double your calories
or you won't lose correctly. Don't let your body think it is being starved
or the weight loss will slow way down! Isn't this funny? You have to
increase your intake to lose! LOL -- But, at two weeks, you are ok. Now,
have you taken your measurements yet? If not, go do it and keep a log.
Measure every month on your surgery date. When you plateau, and you will
(its normal), just take your measurements and you'll see that you are
losing inches! This is so cool! Don't worry, be happy! Relax, and enjoy
the losses coming your way!

I am 3 weeks post and have been eating solids since I left the hospital. I
can only drink one protein drink per day because I am always full also. I
feel a little dehydrated, so today I am trying to drink as much water as I
can. Sounds like you are eating about the same as I am.
