Question:
I am having my 1st appointment and was wondering what tests he requires if you are
accepted as a patient. Are there any that could be done by my family dr. ahead of time to spead up this process? I know that i am jumping the gun a little but i am anxious to be approved for this so i can start a life that will be healthier than this one is. — amy C. (posted on February 16, 2001)

You might want to contact your surgeon's office and ask specifically what
they will require; however, some of the tests that come to mind are:
gallbladder ultrasound, upper GI, pap smear, general blood work (from a
physical), and a psychological evaluation. Some surgeon's don't require
all or any of these tests but I personally feel better that my surgeon has.
It only confirms that he wants to be able to avoid any complications from
the get go! Good luck to you!
