The staples really arn't that bad... even though they seem to use the
industrial strength kind. The best sleeping pattern for me was sleeping on
my back with a pillow under my legs. Good luck.

I used a body pillow and slept on my side hugging the pillow with it
between my legs. Slept great, I also used neosporin on the staples to keep
them moist

I had my surgery in December and I use a small travel pillow. I sleep on my
side and use the pillow to cushion my stomach area. (I can actually feel
pressure in that area, if I don't use the pillow)

I am a "side sleeper", but found that it was really uncomfortable
to do this with the staples in, even with pillows holding me up, so I slept
on my back ... with a ton of pillows behind me (nearly sitting up) and one
on either side to keep me from rolling over in my sleep. Also, those early
days after surgery, I slept in my rocking chair because I was having
trouble sitting up and had no one to help me. It was a while before I
could sleep on my side comfortably though, I thought I could feel things
"shifting" around in there. Sometimes I slept with the binder on
and that helped.
