Question:
I'm 5 days post op and I feel like I haven't had anything done.
I feel great, I get a little lethargic when I haven't had any protein. I want to know if it's ok to have cream of potato soup with skim milk and dry oyster crackers? My Dr. said to slowly introduce full liquids after 4 days or so, I felt very weak until I started this. Can someone elaborate on the days right after coming home as opposed to the 3,4,6 week time? Kimberely....I am 2 weeks post op-I was instructed to be on a liquid diet
for 3 weeks, soft for 3 more and then regular...Up until last week I was
really weak. I was told that it was still the surgery..I can tolerate slim
fast, cottage cheese, creamed soups, jello, oatmeal, runny mashed potatos
and any other clear liquids. I even tried different milks and some
applesause WITH SUGER,no effect. I also feel like I haven't had anything
done EXCEPT...when I tried to blenderize some chunky homemade chicken soup
I could tell and I felt too full etc... I'm just now starting to feel any
kind of energy at all. Lets stick together!

I am 3 wks post-op (today) RNY proximal. I felt like I hadn't had anything
done either. I also never felt full, but the dr's. asst. said we won't feel
full drinking liquids, nor can we stretch our pouch's out on liquids. I
went to the health food store and got some plain soy protein and started
adding it to my cream soups...it has no taste (I thought it was going to be
nasty tasting), and it is lumpy BUT 1 SCOOP HAS 25 GRAMS OF PROTEIN. I was
told we need to have 60 grams of protein per day + our vitamins 2/day. I
add the protein to liquid beef boullion also and the shakes. Good luck!
