Question:
I have been doing all my preop tests since August. My first consult with the surgeon
's partner was in August. They said I had to lose 20 pounds, I did in one month, but I told them I cannot maintain it. After I lost my weight, then they proceeded with all my preop tests. I have gained most of the weight back now, due to holidays and delays but my appt. is Jan. 4 and does anyone know if they will be "STICKLERS" about it? The receptionist informed me I this appt. would only be about 20 minutes and we schedule our date for surgery within 2-3 weeks from this appt. I had to lose weight to show my committment that i am serious. They make all their patients do it...anyone have any input.???? I am nervous to see him and have gained weight, but it has been almost 5 months and WE ALL KNOW HOW THAT GOES ABOUT MAINTING A DIET...this is why I am pursuing this procedure. I have no comorbs really, just overweight...any input would be greatly appreciated. Patricia :) — Patricia C. (posted on December 29, 2000)

Patricia,
I too, have been doing the pre-diet and am wondering the same thing. I'm
really having a tough time sticking to the diet that they gave me, but they
did say I could switch diets, and do what works for me. Isn't that a
contradiction in terms.. a diet that works for me? ha ha.
I'm sorry I don't have any answers for you, but if I find out, I'll let you
know. Please tell me if you find anything. This is the same thing I am
wondering.. if I lose the weight, and then my surgery date isn't for a few
months, do I have to keep it off, will I have to diet again? I hope not.
Good luck. I'm sure everything will be ok.
