Watch your dairy consumption. Lots of post-op WLS patients are lactose
intolerant, and one of the key symptoms is excess gas.

Nicole,
First of all, congratulations on your new life! Secondly, I want to say
that maybe you should thank your lucky stars that you are having trouble
passing gas (or your family should be grateful)...Once you start, if you
are like me, you will clear a room quickly. LOL
But, seriously, as for the gas, I agree with the others and say that
anything containing lactose should be avoided. That is where most of my
gas comes from. Also, if I overindulge in fats that will do it too. I am
18 months postop and still have this problem from time to time but I DO
know that most of the time, I have caused it by eating something I
shouldn't have. It's embarrassing but it's now a fact of life with me.
I wish you luck and please remember that everything gets better from here
on out. We will all promise you that. It's just a matter of adjusting and
putting up with the not knowing in the beginning that is so frustrating.
Good luck to you and a speedy recovery.

When I know I am eating something that will produce gas
(for me that is food like beans, cabbage/salad, eggs) I use
Beano with the first bite. It has really helped a lot.
I had a lot of gas post op so pre op was really a problem
until I started using Beano.
