Question:
Why doesn't our old stomach get hungry?

Lacy...I'm not a medical person, but it wasexplained to me that the area of
the stomach that feels hunger and gives you the signal that you're full is
at the top. In other words, in the area that is made into the pouch. So
the transected portion, or *old stomach* does not *feel* hunger. Any
doctors or nurses out there who can confirm or deny this? :-) This
explanation applies to RNY surgery. With the DS the stomach is reduced in
a different way.

lacy,
I asked my doctor that and he told me that when the skin stretches in the
stomach, your body sends a message to your brain saying your full. Your
small pouch will "stretch" when you eat, thus sending the
message. Hope that helps.
