The surgery you are talking about is one in which they place a ring in your
stomach and put staples along the side of it to hold it in place. It
limits the amount of food you can assume per meal. I had it done in April
and have lost almost 100 pounds, I would highly reccommend it, although you
wont find alot of support on here for it.

This is what is referred to as a VBG and the sylastic ring is what helps
keep the food in the small pouch for a longer period of time. I had this
procedure ~3years ago and am doing well. I lost about 120lbs in 1 year.
With this particular type of surgery there is no malabsorption of food just
restriction of food. Today I can only eat extremely small portions of food.
With this surgery you can eat all day, (graze) and/or eat high fat and
high sugar. Be sure you research and discuss with your doctor the best
type of surgery for you. Good Luck.
