Question:
Is it abnormal to make yourself "purge" after eating the slightest thing?
I'm having a hard time because I have not been losing very well. I eat less than 1000 calaries a day yet I can't seem to lose. Anyway, I feel very full after eating just a few bites. I feel better after I purge, but I feel guilty like this is a form of bulemia? I don't binge eat. I told my surgeon but he seems to think it's a form of dumping syndrom? I was thinking it was more in my head? Any ideas? — Erin M S. (posted on September 14, 2000)

Erin, please see a professional counselor as well as a nutritionist as soon
as you can. As far as the calories, you may actually need to INCREASE
them. Also, the nutritionist will be able to help determine if you need to
be eating other things instead of what you're doing now. This will more
than likely break your plateau. As far as purging, this is very dangerous
over time - physically and emotionally. You're not alone in this, and a
professional can help you work through it. Take care of yourself. You
deserve health and happiness. We are here to support you:)
