Question:
How many grams of protein,carbohydrate ,and fat do we need each day?
I had my surgery on 5-9-00 i`v lost 65 lbs. so far, my daughter tells me I should have a certain amount of protein, carbohydrates and fat grams each day I asked my Dr. office but didn`t realy get an answer can anyone help me? Thank-you Lesia — Lesia M. (posted on September 12, 2000)

My nutritionist worked this up for me based on height, weight, BMI and age:
74 gms. of protein and 29-42 gms of fat. Carbs were not mentioned.
Probably because they are in veggies, fruits, and breads and if you eat
anything with your protien, you'll get them in anyway.

I'm not sure where I read this, but I wrote it down for my own personal
reference. 1200 calories per day, 52 grams of protein, 158 grams of carbs.
and 40 grams of fat. I am sure I don't eat close to that amount of fat or
carbs, but it is good to know that we can have that much to maintain once
we get to goal. And I think 1200 calories is plenty.
