Question:
Is having toe cramps common after WLS?
I am 4 months post op and have been having severe toe cramps for quite some time now. Is this surgery related, does anyone else have this problem? Have any remedies that work ? — renee S. (posted on September 7, 2000)

I'm 4 1/2 months out and about two months ago, I went through a terrible
time of "restless legs" and "leg cramps" because of a
lack of potassium in my diet. You could try a supplement or just eat a
banana! I try to eat at least one banana a week and have not had anymore
problems.

When I was pregnant, I had severe leg cramps. I was told it was a calcium
deficiency. I upped the calcium, and it worked!! Don't know if this is
helpful, but it can't hurt to up the calcium to see, right??

I found that I get toe cramps when I am low on potassium. I use the
Morton's No Salt. I put 1/4 tsp. in an ounce of juice, and follow the salty
taste with plain juice. It's only ingredient is potassium. It cures my
cramps right away

Toe cramps and leg cramps can be a caused by potassium deficiency. I know I
got them a lot but now I take potassium to help keep levels up. I was also
taking a diuretic and this contributed to the loss of potassium also
