Where my husband and I had our surgery (BTC in Ann Arbor, Mi) the standard
time is 4 days counting the day of your surgery. If there are any
problbems, they will keep you longer. My husband had a problem with severe
gas build-up and had to stay an extra day. I came home on the 4th day. We
had Open RNY.

With my lap RNY, I had surgery on Tuesday, was discharged on that Thursday,
and returned to work the following Wednesday. Best wishes!

I had surgery on Monday at 7:40 a.m. and was released from the hospital on
Thursday at 5:00 p.m. However, my surgeon claims the average stay is five
to seven days for open RNY.
