Question:
Did anyone post-op have problems with the epidural?
I was wondering if anyone had problems with the epidural not working properly? I am particularly interested in people who had Dr. Hocking or any Gainesville Doctor. Thank you — JazzBear111 (posted on July 26, 2000)

I don't think my epidural worked as it should have. I was also given
morphine, but morphine made me itch and the combonation of the two made me
sleep so deep that with my sleep apnea, I did not want to breathe. So they
took both away and put me on Percoset. That worked great for me!

I had an epidural during surgery. Postop my pain increased, I ended up on
Morphine drip and demerol hypo, I had been on a lot of meds preop due to ca
and frxs in my back. I felt better 2 or 3 postop day, It was worth the
pain. Shirley

My epidural worked beautifully, I never experienced any pain whatsoever.
When I woke in recovery, I had 0 pain. Only some discomfort from the
binder, that was very tight.I am now 20 days post-op and down 33 lbs and
still have never had any pain. The epidural and theis surgery both ae truly
a blessing.

I'll echo STARR.. I had an epidural for reasons with having sleep apnea
and I was totally pain free.. never took a pain shot or pill at the
hospital or home.. When I woke in ICU I was waiting for pain but it
never came.. I wore the binder first day then that sucker was kicked
to the curb..It seemed to decrease my ability to deep breath.. I don't
have a lower left lobe and I have an elevated diaphragm from 1974 when I
had my spleen removed.. So the binder was soon removed to allow for
my comfort... I'm having Abdominoplasty soon and I have asked for
epidural again.. ;-)

Hi There. I had the epideral and DR. HOCKING did my RNY. To this day, I
have had no problems whatsoever with the epideral. I had absolutely no
pain after the surgery and I sincerely believe that DR. HOCKING saved my
life. He is a very caring man and doctor and anyone who chooses to go to
him is indeed a lucky person. Good Luck to you.
