Wow! I eat much more than that. I had open rny 4/19/00 and I was served 6
0z of liquid/blended food in the hospital. I was able to just about all of
it. Of course, I eat much smaller meals than before but 1 tabelspoon
doesn't sound like enough to me. Better check with your doctors office.

No, that's not normal. Once in a great while, I will only be able to eat 2
spoonsful before I get this tremendous pressure pain and cannot continue.
However, if I just relax, it will pass. I've discovered that I cannot eat
properly if I am aggitated. Other than that, I can eat close to a cup of
food at a time. I agree with the previous post, you need to ask you doctor
about this. Until then, try relaxing, chew your food real well, don't be
in a rush at all, eat slowly. I do this and all is fine! Best wishes.

I am 3 years post and I eat about a child size portion which
of course is more then 1 or 2 tablespoons of food. I still get
the full feeling and stop at that because I know it if I don't.
I still feel it if I eat to fast as well. You will be able
to eat more as time goes on and then it will stop. I don't believe
that you will ever eat an adult size meal. I could be wrong
maybe there are those who do, but I know I can't. When I go to
a restaurant I still bring home more then half of the meal for
lunch and maybe sometimes 2 lunches depending on how much I
brought home. Don't be discouraged about the amount you are
eating it does get better over time. I also am able to tolerate
any type of food, but not all people can so I would try one
at a time when you start adding foods. Sometimes also you may
be able to eat something one day and not the next, and visa
versa. No one seems to know why this is. But it is trial and
error. Good luck to you in your weight loss.

I had an Open RNY on April 10th this year. My understanding of post op
eating was WAY distorted. I went into this thing thinking exactly like you
stated, and I was willing to risk 2TBS for the rest of my life. LOL
Well, I am now almost 3 months and I can eat a whole heck of a lot more
than 2TBS. I can even eat bread, rice and pasta!! I make these english
muffin pizza's, Toasted 1/2 of english muffin, pizza sauce, some olives, a
slice of pepperoni and grated low fat mozza. Bake in oven for 5mins. I
can eat 2 of these in a 1/2 hour period!! Remarkable. Certainly no where
near what I would have eaten pre op but not the 2TBS falicy either.
Although, I have a good capacity, my desire to eat has way diminished. I
have to make myself eat alot of the time. I no longer want my pre op binge
foods. :) Good luck and take heart: 'There is life after WLS, why else
would we do it?'

Hang in there! I am 2 months post-op and down 49 pounds (yeah!), and
although it was slow in the beginning, I can now to eat more than 2 tblsp
at a time. It just takes time:)
