Question:
Has anyone tried eating baby food post-op for meats and protien?

My doctor told me NOT to use baby food. He said the purpose behind baby
food is to put weight on a baby and help them grow. As a result, they
usually have high calories and contain sugar. Best to puree your own foods
in a blender so you know what exactly you are eating.

Barbara,
You might want to try to puree your own food with a food processor- be
careful with meats, though,
I blew up a blender trying to puree steak! If you have a processor, or can
borrow one, you can puree
what you want and freeze it in ice cube trays. Most standard
ice cube trays hold about 1 oz. per cube, so this makes it easy
for you to measure the amount you want to eat. I did some vegetables,
but mostly chicken and steak- seasoned the way I wanted! After
they are frozen, I just transferred them to freezer bags. Beats the
heck out of baby food! Good Luck!

I've tried the baby foods and they work great (non-protein items); I puree
my chicken or fish, and add a teaspoon or two of baby food veggies or
fruits. There are varieities with no additives whatsoever and they are
pretty good. I recommend the Gerber Mixed Fruits! Its such a nice change
from yogurt, cottage cheese and mushy chicken. I've tried the carrots,
sweet potatoes, green beans and spinach - have a preference for the first
two. They all taste like the real thing. My nutritionist suggested that I
mix a teaspoon of the veggies with the pureed chicken or turkey -- kinda
like a yucky casserole -- it makes the protein go down much easier and
livens up the taste. Try it -- they are less than $.50 a jar and really
convenient for variety.
