Question:
Does the small pouch stretch out after a certain amount of time, and how much?
Most pouches are about 2 oz after surgery. I know it will probably stretched out some but how much is normal and in what time frame? — Sheila W. (posted on March 21, 2000)

Actually, I think any of the pouch surgeries have the ability to stretch
out if we over stuff it and drink carbonated drinks and abuse our new
anatomy.. Stay within the portions that your surgeons set for you, and eat
slow, taking small bites, chew well, stay away from carbonation or
icecream (both swell the stomach)and you should do just fine for many
years.

We start with pouches considerably under 1 oz. Mine was 1/2 oz, but some
are even less. Our doc figures they will triple in 5 yrs. The most common
complaint we hear after a few years? Gee, I wish my pouch was smaller!
