How do i get approval from my insurance, if PCP kept no records
MY PCP NEVER KEPT RECORDS OF MY WEIGHT LOSS ATTEMPTS. HOW THAT I'M TRYING TO HAVE THIS SURGERY(GASTRIC BYPASS). IF INSURANCE ASK PAST WEIGHT LOSS ATTEMPTS, I DON'T HAVE ANY. MY PCP IS NOT FOR THIS SURGERY, SHE KEEP TRYING TO TALK ME OUT OF IT. I HAVE PROBLEMS WITH MY BACK & KNEES. I HAVE NO OTHER HEALTH PROBLEMS, BESIDE BEING MORBID OBESITY. MY BMI IS 62+ , HOW CAN I GET APPROVAL WITH NO RECORDS FROM MY DOCTOR AND NO MAJOR HEALTH PROBLEM. I WEIGHT 400LBS. NEED YOU HELP! — Valerie C. (posted on November 7, 1999)

I got approved and I only had some documented diets with my physician.
Redux and FenFen. I made a spreadsheet of all the diets I had ever tried,
the starting dates, the ending dates, my beginning and ending weights, with
the type of diet I tried. Even listed the fad diets like low-protein,
Low-fat, Dr. Atkins, Weight Watchers, etc. Don't let it get you down. It
can be very depressing when you put it in black and white all your
different attempts. I also was approved without alot of co-morbidities.
With your BMI that high you should not have any problems, and maybe you
should find another doctor. You will need after surgery care and obviously
your doctor now is against it. Find one that can be supportive in YOUR
life decision. Good luck to you.
