Do you have any experience with Blue Cross California Care HMO?

Has anyone had a positive/negative experience with approval through Blue Cross California Care HMO? More specifically (for tose of you in San Diego), has anyone had a positive/negative experience with approval through Scripps Medical Associates East County? Please advise. I am anxiously awaiting "final" approval for my surgery. I received authorization from my IPA for a surgical "consult" with Dr. Rumsey, but I am still waiting a final answer regarding whether or not I am approved for surgery. My struggle with getting approved was due to my IPA, Hills Physicians. According to a customer service rep at Blue Cross, if your BMI is 40 or above and you have co-morbidities, it's their policy to approve you.
