Question:
How do post-ops--especially early on get enough fiber in your diet?
I just received information from my doc regarding food and he suggested adding fiber like metimucel for roughage. I'd like to hear from post-ops about how they get enough roughage. My "system" has always been slow. I wonder how I would be able to drink it and still get enough nutrients in during the day. — Dot W. (posted on September 14, 1999)

That's precisely what my doc suggested as well. Applesauce also helps
sometimes (unsweetened) or once you can eat raw veggies and fruit again,
salad helps as do fresh fruits. Good Luck!

Hi, Right after surgery for about the first week or so I didn't have
problem. In fact I thought I would be "loose" always. But then
later I have found that the diluted juice and then the baby food helps a
lot too. But remember also you are not going to be putting hardly anything
in the new tummy so if you don't go for a couple of days that is normal.
It will take longer to need to go with so much less food going in. Good
luck.
