Question:
I'd like to hear from Lap Gastric RNY Post-ops about recovery.
Please let me know how your hospital stay was (length of time and comfort); your first days at home getting around and the foods you ate in the very beginning. I am very anxious with the "unknown" as I am sure everyone is. Thank you so much--Surgery date 9/22/99 all is approved!!!! — Dot W. (posted on August 27, 1999)

Hi, I had Lap rny on a Wednesday morning 6/16/99, and was ready to go home
Friday. By Thursday I was able to get up and walk unassisted, slowly of
course and some discomfort getting out of the bed but otherwise feeling
good. I had to stay an extra day to get potassium suplements since it was
low but then on Sat. I put on my street clothes and walked out of the
hospital without any help. I was virtually functioning normally within a
week and only felt discomfort when sitting for extended periods because of
folding the tiny incisions. Hardest thing for me has been adjusting to the
restricted diet. I get frustrated trying to find nourishing food that sits
well. Just takes practice and patience but the weight loss makes it worth
while! Best Wishes, Linda
