Question:
Has anyone been able to get around a denial from Fortis Ins Co?

Please help, I have been denied by my insurance company Fortis, it has a written exclusion regarding anything to do with weight at all. Is there any hope to get around this? My surgery was scheduled for July 28th.    — Laura H. (posted on July 12, 1999)

First off. I need to know if you have any comorbidity factors as a result of your weight. (severe apnoea, hypertension, etc.) If you can document a comorbidity factor that should shut your insurance company up and make them come around. It doesn't hurt to have a good attorney on tap in case they get really obstinate. I would suggest having a sleep study done and a report submitted.
