I don't know what the right medical answer is to this, but I can tell you
that I ended up back in the hospital for 2 days for treatment of 2
pulmonary embolism on my left lung (fortunately not life threatening) after
RGB surgery. I had a blood clot in my left leg 20 yrs ago, from taking
birth control pills and was in the hospital for 6 days for blood thinner
treatment. I don't know if this is evidence of a "tendency" or
not, but it could be. I was given heperin injections while in the hospital
for RGB surgery from the very first day prior to surgery. Clots are a
highly possible side-effect of any major surgery. I would imagine they'll
keep a close eye on you when you go in for your surgery based on your
medical history of having them. Good luck! -Kathy
