Question:
I need to have a 3rd WLS & I would like to hear from anyone who has had WLS more than
than 2 times. What were you told your risks of having the surgery more than 2 times were & did you have success with your 3rd surgery? Thanks. — [Anonymous] (posted on April 17, 1999)

There is one lady on the weightloss mail list that has had two...
My question is why do you need a third? Please email me privately..

Carole: You ask why I need to have WLS a 3rd time. Well, the first time
I had a Distal Gastric Bypass & I was extremely happy with it, but had
a staple line disruption. Because of a conflict, I seeked a 2nd opinion
about something not related to surgery, they referred me to another surgeon
& all I can say is I was so stupid, I listened to him, & against my
own heart's desires, I let him persuade me that a proximal bypass would be
the best thing for me, so I went through this revision 16 months ago. Not
even during surgery & recovery did I ever lose even ONE POUND!!!, but
instead, I have continued to gain. Whereas I had lost down to 139 with the
distal, I am now up to 240 & still gaining. That's why I need a 3rd
WLS & why I am trying to seek out others who have had to have a 3rd
WLS. By the way, I note you are from my home State. Are there some good
Drs. there perform the Distal Surgery & if so, what part of the State
are they located in?
Thanks,
Sharon Hill
