Question:
Suggestions and Ideas...what's tasty?
I am now "graduating" to pureed foods (after 2 weeks of SF jello, pudding and Carnation Instant Breakfast...yuk). From those of you have been here, what tastes the best in pureed form?? — Carol W. (posted on April 10, 1999)

According to my diet regimen prescribed by the DRs I see, pureed foods are
anything that is "fork-mushy". The nutritionist was very helpful
including foods like the following:
tuna with or without low-fat mayo, & chopped onions, relish
fish
green beans
asparagus
moist baked potatoes
soups--Campbell's potato, broccoli, garden veggie (in a jar)
mac & cheese
pasta (cooked really well)
steamed veggies (also cooked really well for easy mushability)
canned pears, tangerines, peaches (in own juice)
fat free sliced cheese (some people tolerate, others don't)
fruit smoothies without sugar & honey
Hormel chili
Red/White/Lima beans without rice
I have personally found that if something is not supposed to be pureed, it
shouldn't be because chances are, it will taste like crap.
I also asked this same question to others and I got some responses I didn't
think my DR would appreciate me relaying, but it helps to have some sense
of normalcy.
Kentucky Fried Chicken's mashed potatoes & mac & cheese
Popeye's mashed potatoes & red beans (with NO rice)
Taco bell's refried beans
Wendy's chili & baked potato
Hot Tamales (if you can have red meat--I cannot for 3 months)
Hope this helps!

I've not had my surgery yet, but my patient consultant at BTC said that
baby food was awful, most people don't like it. She told me she would put
a cooked Lean Cuisine entree into the blender and puree it. Said it didn't
look like much but tasted just the same. Said one entree was good for a
few meals at first!
