Question:
childeren at support groups
i know that some people say do not bring your childeren to the support groups, but i need to know for my self. i have a 4 year old and a 15 month old and i do not have anyone here to watch them while i go to the meetings. hubby is gone until the middle of october and then leaves again for the while in november do people real care that you bring them when you have no choice. — tmalotte (posted on September 24, 2005)

The support groups I went to, small children were not allowed... Some ppl
did bring their children with them, but the children were more like
teenagers (17 and above)

I would probably find them distracting, and maybe feel less comfortable
saying whatever was on my mind. With that said, though, you must weigh the
importance of the meetings for your success. Could you talk to the
director of the meetings and see if there is a child care arrangement?

I can sympathize, but small children are distracting for the others who
have found child care arrangements so that they can take the time to
attend. While I doubt most support groups would prohibit, I think its a
courtesy to leave your children with a trusted neighbor/friend if possible.
Perhaps you can reciprocate with the neighbor and watch her kids in return
for a once a week or month support group mtg??
