Question:
How soon after surgery will I lose weight?
I had surgery six days ago, and despite doing the liquid diet and walking as ordered by my doctor I haven't lost a single pound. How soon after surgery will the weight start to come off? Is it normal to not lose anything the first week? — Jan W. (posted on September 9, 2005)

Wilson:
Hang in there, the weight will start comming off soon. You are probably
retaining alot of fluids from IVs yet. Try to get in as many fluids as you
can, to flush your body out. Watch the salt intake. If you are drinking
alot of broths they can be quite salty and cause fluid retention. You will
probably lose alot at once when you start losing!! It will happen, check
your weight in a week, you will see a drop I'm sure!! Good luck and happy
losing!!! DeeAnn R

Congratulations on your surgery! First week, I lost nothing. I was still
all swollen and puffy from the surgery. By week 3, I had lost 24 lbs. Be
patient! It will happen. Best of luck!

Cograts on being on the losing side of life. Yes the first
week you can be very bloated from the surgery. Do Not Panic
you will lose 5 or more lbs probably very soon. Just keep doing what your
Doctor has told you & you will be fine. Keep flushing your body with
water it really does help get all of tha anathesia & ari out of your
system from the surgery. Hang in There, you will be just fine.
