Question:
After breast aug/reduct. surgury what will happen?

Hi, I have had problems with breast size ever since I started developing as a child. I ended up naturally with one A cup and one D cup which was pretty traumatic as I was getting made fun of in school a lot. I got the problem fixed my sophomore year in HS, so about 3 years ago. In my left breast is an implant and in my right there was a reduction/lift type of thing. They turned out really well so I'm afraid they will become different sizes again if I lose a lot of weight.    — Alison B. (posted on August 9, 2005)

Dear Alison, A normal breast is usually over 50% fatty tissue so that when you lose weight your breasts will get smaller. If your breast implant is large there will probably be some asymmetry after your weight loss. There is a possibility of needing a revision of your breasts after your weight loss. Many women who have severe breast asymmetry have a condition called Poland's syndrome. Sincerely, Joshua Kreithen, M.D. Sarasota-Bradenton, FL lakewoodranchplasticsurgery.com

I haven't have breast reduct surgery.Although It was a major consideration prior to surgery.I also have always had different sized breasts.(my left was an E and my rt. was a C prior to surgery.)I am 13 months post-op Roux-n-y and have lost 170lbs. My melons have been reduced to fruit-roll-ups. But they are still dramaticlly different sizes. I am off course GUESSING based on the implant size and the amount of weight you lose after surgery that it is possable for the size to end up similar but the shape..may be another matter. P.S. I am now almost 34yrs old and breastfed 3 children earlier in life.So you might want to ask the doctor that preformed your breast surgery about your age factor and tissue density regarding major weight loss. Best wishes, Velvet
