Question:
I have this ugly feeling in my stomach through out the day.
When I try to eat 1-2 bites of my meal I feel full & I want to throw up - My stomach feels very heavy just as soon as the 1st or 2nd bite is swallowed basically - I will be calling my surgeon but I thought I would throw out the ? just in case anyone has the same thing happen to them - — grace W. It sounds like you are chewing your food to mush. Small bites are good,
but you have to chew your food until it is almost disolved. You did not
say how much post-op you are, but if your bite is not chew well, even at 6
to 8 months post-op, it will feel like it is stuck.

Right, you must chew extremely thoroughly. Also, be sure they are small
bites as well. Be sure you didn't have much to drink in the half hour or
so before mealtime. The biggest source of eating difficulties are : too
large bites, not chewing thoroughly, eating too fast, eating too soon after
a beverage (or drinking when eating). Hope this helps.

Hi, you did not say how long ago you had your surgery, but I think I know
how you feel. When I would eat, while it was going down, it was the worst
feeling in the world. Only certain foods would do it. Like watermelon, it
actually hurt to eat it. Going down it felt like it was coming up with a
LOT of gas. My surgery was 4-25-05. It still hurts some to eat the
watermelon, but things are a LOT better now, thank God. I actually ate
salad today. It was GREAT!!! I ate it at Burger Queen with Ceasar's
dressing. I didn't get sick or anything. I started getting better two
weeks ago. I read where people kept saying it would get better, but I just
wasn't sure. hahahaa I can actually get a drink of water and swallow two
drinks at a time. It feels so good to do that. Old habits are really hard
to break. At first I wasn't satisified with my surgery. Now I think it is
the best thing in the world. I feel so good now. I had my hair colored
Thursday and cut and when he turned me around to see my reflection in the
mirror, I was shocked at the person looking back at me. I almost cried.
my daughter and granddaughter just kept on saying how good I looked. It is
such a great feeling knowing I am now an embarrassment to my family
anymore. They never ever said that I was, but I always felt I was. I sure
hope you get to feeling better real soon. Believe me, you really will.
Good luck and take care. Judy
