Question:
WILL SHE HAVE TO HAVE IRON INFUSSION FOR THE REST OF HER LIFE
Iron Infussion due to low iron levels — margaret M. (posted on May 25, 2005)

margaret, the answer to your question lies in HOW bad is/are her iron
levels? And WHAT is causing them to keep going so low? I had to have iron
IV's for 2 months this year, but also looked into WHAT was causing me to
have to go thru that. I found it was a female problem and that my monthly
was WAY too heavy. I had several tests ran and there are medicaitons that
any ob/gyn can give her to SLOW it WAY down! But as for your answer to
your question it all lies in how much she knows about herself and what she
is going thru. Read my profile it might help give you some insite.

I agree with Carole. My mother had issues with her iron that were so bad
that she needed infussions. For her, she had to change what it was she was
doing....Jenny Craig. Sad eh?

As everyone said, it depends on why. Is because iron is going OUT too fast
or because it's not getting IN due to malabsorption? Some are able to
drastically increase their iron over time once they have found the right
combination of oral supplementation. I know ppl are often told that they
simply don't absorb orals any more, but some have figured they had nothing
to lose by trying ANYWAY, and have substantially improved their levels and
been able to cut back on non-oral methods.
