Question:
I had an endoscopy and my gastroenterologist said my stomach had stretched open.
Is there anyway to repair this? I still need to lose another 80 pds and at almost 3 years out the weight falls off at about 2-3 pds of month... if even that. Has anyone had a stretched stomach repaired? — gloria M. (posted on May 17, 2005)

Most likely it's the stoma that stretched. That's the hole that leads into
the intestines. One way to fix that is to put a lap band on the stoma so
you regain restriction. If you had your stomach stapled, and not cut,
another possibility is that you have a staple line disruption, and they
would have to go in there and fix that with more surgery too.

I am actually dealing with a staple line that has a hole in it now. My
doctor is going to repair it and revise my bypass to include removing a
portion of my stomach. because of the breakdown in my staple line food was
passing to the lower part of my stomach and since there had not been food
in there for a few years it caused a pretty nasty ulcer. so as soon as the
ulcer heals the doctor will revise my surgery and at present I only weigh
about 175 whic is about 25 pound more than my initial goal my lowest weight
was about 130.
