Question:
HELP IN GETTING MEDICAID SUBMITTAL FROM DOCTOR
I have serious comorbidities. Was originally scheduled to undergo on April 1, 2004 complete abdm. reconstruction due to massive ventral hernias with bowel protrusions. I have constant bowel obstructions. 5 surgeons have referred me to major NC hospital for gastric bypass. I have been through ALL preop hoops required, and they STILL won't submit to MEDICAID????? I have been out of work for over one year now, and my family is suffering along with me? — Paul K. (posted on April 29, 2005)

My suggestion...get a new doctor!! That is a lesson I learned along my
battle for WLS and it has changed my life. Your doctor is your
employee...if they arent doing whats in your best interest or willing to do
what it takes to make you healthier, then they need to be fired. You can
easily get your records transfered to a new doc who can overlook your past
issues and testings and provide that physician referral for you. Good luck
on your journey!!

I am having the same problem, I am disabled, have medicare, but cant get
medicaid to help, I have an appt on monday to see if there is anything else
I can do to resolve it, In the mean time I have been saving money like a
pack rat in order to pay for the surgery, which seems to be my only option
left. At the rate I'm going it shouldn't be but about 6 more months till I
have enough. Feel Free to contact me, I know how frustraighting NC
Medicaid can be.

Beg, borrow and steal (only kidding), to hire an attorney that deals with
WLS. I am in California, have straight mediCal and was approved in twelve
days. I will pray for you.

Hey Paul,
I am sorry you are having so much trouble. I am having trouble even getting
a Surgeon to see me on Medicaid in Texas. Don't give up though because
things will work out. I will keep you and your family situation in my
prayers. Keep me posted on you progress.
Faith and Blessings,
Debra Harabis
