Question:
Is it possible to gain weight a week before your period?
Can this also cause you not to have a bowel movement for a couple of days. — Marti M. (posted on March 29, 2005)

YES! I usually gain between 3 and 5 pounds. It sucks, but at least I know
what is causing it.

I have noticed that I always gain right before my cycle. I will go to the
gym and weigh myself and wonder what exactly I have eaten to make me gain a
few pounds. Then the next thing I know, I start my period. Then when it's
over, it seems like I drop a few pounds just as quickly. I'm not sure if it
is because I retain water, or if it is actually true weight gain. Either
way, it is somewhat discouraging. Just try not to get depressed about it
and ride it out. Best wishes for health and happiness always.

Yep, it happens to me every month. I don't gain a great deal, usually a
pound to a pound and a half, but I have to take colace every month for the
b.m. to happen. You are not alone!

Hi All~
Yes.. I too gain weight when I an getting my "friend"... but
before i get constipated, i have the runs 1st REALLY bad. then I can't go
after that.
Was that a little too much info? LOL!
So don't sweat the slight weight gain before and during the cycle.. it's
normal...all women have that ... not just the "special" ones like
us!!
God Bless!

usually up about 5! pounds, they drop in 1-2 days. I think the hormones
affect the bowel functioning. I had the same issue preop as well.
