Question:
I think I might be getting a cold, but it could also be allergies.

My boyfriend has was sick yesterday, headache, cough, clear nasal discharge. Also my son is coughing. I am scheduled for RNY on monday and am worried. If I call my surgeon will her cancel my surgery? The 31st is the ONLY time that I can have the surgery..EVER!!...Because of insurance issues, and the 31st is the last day they will approve me for surgery. So is not monday, then never. Go get Zicam! you could avert coming down with a cold. I like the gel and use it with a qtip. The other thing is good handwashing! Good luck!

Hey lanie, I had surgery cancelled twice because of colds. I ended up running into the same problem where after the 1st of the year my insurance no longer covered the surgery. Fortunely the insurance gave me an extension because I had been approved prior to the 1st. If you do get sick and surgery is cancelled you may be eligable for an extension. Hopefully you just dont get sick. Best of luck.

Personally I'd get a hotel room and not let anyone in. Order a pizza or something where you don't have to go out around people. Yes it is extreme but if you truely can't have surgery any other day, then I'd make sure I was as far away from sick people as possible.

I had the world's worst cold when I had my Open RNY. The surgeon told me as long as I did not have a fever there was no reason not to operate. If you are worried, go to a hotel and stay away from people.
