Question:
Help with TT approval

Check with your insurance provider and see what their criteria is for it. I
have Aetna and got my tummy tuck approved the first try and it only took
about 2 weeks for the approval. I have back pain and a filmy growth under
the skin fold documented by my doctor. My pannus hangs to my genital area.
I think these are the usual criteria. Good luck!

Dear Lisa,
It can often be very difficult to have the insurance company pay for a TT.
In order to do so, the operation has to be considered "medically
indicated". The conditions that may meet this requirement include:
persistant rashes or infections of the lower abdominal fold, chronic pain
or swelling, an incisional hernia or the tissue hangs over the pubic area
and interferes with bodily functions. Your plastic surgeon will need to
write a letter to your insurance company after consultation to start the
process. I hope this information is useful. Joshua Kreithen, M.D.
