Question:
Menstrual cycle messed up due to Gallbladder removal?
My LMP was 11/5/04 and I had my gallbladder out on 11/17/04. Now, 12/7/04, I still don't have my period. I am always 28 days, can surgery mess up your cycle? Thanks! — Funky W. (posted on December 7, 2004)

I'm no medical expert, but I had my RNY & gallbladder out at the same
time on 11/20/2002. Anyway, I had a period every other week starting a few
weeks post op. I asked my surgeon and then my ob/gyn. Both told me that
any major surgery could cause my hormones to be disrupted, affecting my
menstrual cycle. Hope this helps.......kelly(315/117)

Any "trauma" to the body can throw off your period. The
gallbladder surgery was the "trauma". Take a pregnancy test. If
it's negative, wait it out. I just had the EXACT same thing happen (even
down to the day that you finished your period!!). I had a gyn procedure at
the very end of October and changed jobs a couple of days later. That was
my "trauma and stress". I even took a pregnancy test on Sunday
(and I've had my tubes tied!!) and it of course came back negative. I
called my gynecologists office and they told me to not worry until next
month. Well guess what? Yesterday I got my period!! If it's not
pregnancy, then just wait it out. It will come.
