Question:
Anyone had breat reduction w/ augmentation covered by ins. or not?
I'd like to know if any ladies have had a breat reduction/lift with an augmentation for shape and firmness that was covered by insurance or how would a proceedure like this be paid for? Thanks... — Kathleen B. (posted on October 24, 2004)

I had a lift covered by insurance and I paid for the implants to keep them
up and firm, not for being bigger.

I had a breast reduction that was paid by Insurance 100% 4 years ago. My
Insurance would pay for the reduction but not the augmentation. As part of
the reduction my breast were shaped and very firm and my nipples were made
smaller to match the size and shape of my reduced breasts.

Aside from patients with cancer, i ahve never had INS cover implants.
There was so much negative publicity after the crisis in the 90s that they
just dont want any part of them. People can get other implants for other
forms of reconstructive surgery, but count on paying for your implants if
you need them. PS they can be very helpful in shaping "deflated"
breasts!
