Question:
What kind of calicum do you take ?

Im supposed to be taking calicum citrate, chewable or liquid or crush the tablets (gross). Where can I buy chewable or good tasting liquid that doesnt cost a arm and leg?    — Carrie W. (posted on July 26, 2004)

Try Vitaminworld.com. I think I got it there. I think that GNC.com has it too. Good luck. I used the orange flavor. Kinda like a cremesicle!!

I order unflavored POWDER. Do a serach on yahoo for "calcium citrate powder' I put it in my carbocountdown, oatmeal, yogurt, juice whatever.. NO taste and NO pill. Also, yesterday I received my order of NOW Calcium Chews.. These are a combonation of calicum BUT has 20% calcium citrate per chew.. NOT as good as viactive (just to compare ladies not telling her to use them) BUT figure they travel well with 3 being 60% of the citrate and I can use the powder at home for the rest. I>E the powder has 70% citrate for one tea spoon.. Also the 8 oz was less than $6.00

I got some wafers from VitaminShoppe made by SciFit that I used early on for Calcium Citrate. Now I take VitaminShoppe's Calcium Citrate Plus Magnesium Capsules. Even at 2 years post-op, I still can't do the calcium Citrate tablets.

As you're over a year out, is there a reason that you still need chewables or liquid? Vitalady has a reasonable calcium citrate that comes in a smaller gel cap that goes down easily (www.vitalady.com)

I take Vitalady.com's 'Calcium Citrate + D + Magnesium' in a 240 Capsule bottle. They are NOT small capsules, but I get them down just fine. Spyder

Ditto to Nancy's post below. They are made by Natures Science and I get them thru Vitalady too. They do have chewable Calcium citrate tablets made by Twinlakes I believe. They are huge and citrusy and sour, and I couldn't do it, but found them at the local GNC. Be careful of liquid calcium. The amount that is says you are getting on the label is not necessarily what you are absorbing. We can only absorb elemental calcium. I once called a company that had a great tasting blueberry calcium citrate liquid with 1200 mg of calcium citrate but when I talked to them, the suggested dosage of 1 tablespoon only had 250 grams of elemental calcium. So I would have had to have several tablespoons each day, way too expensive.

I chew 2 Tums Ultra every night at bedtime, (was told not to take it the same time of day as my 3 Flinstones, because they would cancel the effect, contradict each other).

I use Tums ultra. I chew two of them a night. My Dr. said they are a good source and they are actually not too bad in the taste department.

Caltrate 600 Plus Chewables. They have vitamin D to help w/ absorbtion. They're really good! I think they kind of taste like a sweet tart. They're a little under $6 at Wal-Mart for a bottle of 60 Tablets. ENJOY! :)

Just curious. Those who are using Tums more than a few months post op----does your Dr. know or agree that you should still be using them?? They are calcium carbonate and are not processed as well as calcium citrate in post ops. I'd double check unless you are sure that this is the Drs's reccommendation.
