Question:
I am 23 days out,I have lost 25lbs. I had some blood drawn on 7/19 and the Dr. called
and said that my liver functions were up ALT-64 should be 40 or below, and AST-39 should be 35 or below, has anyone else have this? He says tylenol can do this I have only taken it twice in 3 weeks. Also he said B-Complex vitamins should be taken and I have been taking those everyday. Any advise? What about milk thistle? I have heard of people taking this for the liver?? I had this happen a couple of years post-op. They re-did the test a few
weeks later and it came back fine. I think it may have been pain meds I
had taken for a root canal. Are you off your pain meds from the surgery?
Be careful of anything OTC (or prescription), and maybe your results will
be better the next time.

Run a check in the AMOS library on this (sounds like maybe you already
did). My liver enzymes shot up at around seven months post-op and are only
now *almost* back in the normal range (I'm 26 months post-op now). I
really think it was the rapid weight loss that pushed my liver to its
limits. I took milk thistle but only intermittently because I was up to my
ears in other issues and pills, but I see no downside to using it and would
give it a try to see if it helps you. Once I told my endo that I'd read
this sometimes happens with WLS, he was okay with just testing my liver
enzymes and keeping an eye on them, as they slowwwly dropped almost back
into the normal range. But my bariatric surgeon said he'd never heard of
it (shrug).

Terri, I live in Fayetteville, GA. I am a three year post op and I take
milk thistle and I use Shaklee vitamins as well. I would love to help you.
If you'd like you can e-mail me privately and I will help you with Shaklee
and try to offer some suggestions on what has helped me that could possibly
help you,
Blessings,
Crece
