Question:
Has anymore ever submitted to the insurance their self?
My plastic surgeon would only submit for a abdominoplasty. But Id like to see if they would pay for my arms, breast and thighs. I know they wont if nobody ask. So can I ask them my self for this? — Carrie W. (posted on July 18, 2004)

Tread carefully here, Carrie! First, call your insurance company or read
your printed information to see if plastic surgery is covered. If they
don't cover plastics, you can at least make a case that your abdominoplasty
is to correct a functional problem. The other things are purely for
appearance, and if they deny them, they may also deny your abdominoplasty
as being purely cosmetic with the other surgeries. You may request the
other surgeries and get a denial, and you can appeal this, but you better
have some darned good medically necessary reasons for the arms, breasts,
and thighs, and it still isn't likely to be approved.
