Question:
question about cobra
my husband is losing his job the end of july. we are planning on keeping insurance (cigna) through cobra . do the insurance companies seem to give someone a harder time when they have to take this route knowing that they may not keep their insurance for a long time (hopefully my husband will find a job soon) and be difficult getting approval. I will have my 6 month medically supervised diet completed the beginning of sept. I am scared about having a harder time than usual about getting approved because of this. thanks for any help — taterbug898 (posted on June 24, 2004)

I've worked for an insurance company/agency all of my adult life (24
years). It doesn't matter if your on COBRA or not. Looking at it from an
insurance companies thoughts, I would think you would end up staying on the
plan for the full 18 months that your allowed to rather then leaving.
Especially if you want to have this type of surgery. Don't worry about it.
Continue with the process and hopefully you'll be approved for the surgery
soon.

I went through the same exact thing last year at this exact time!! I had
the same concerns about not being approved. Guess what!! I was approved
and had surgery October 1st and am now down 95 pounds!! Don't worry about
it - just keep "trudging" along and hopefully you will be appoved
as well. Good luck with your journey - I understand completely how
nerve-wracking it can all be. Stacy McClain
