Question:
Are SF Popsicles
I have posted on here several times that I solved the "no liquid with meals" problem with SF popsicles. It is customary for me to have one or two after a meal and a few throughout the day. When I lived in California, I would have to drive sometimes to several stores to get them...they never seem to stock enough. When I moved to Texas it was a problem "sometimes" but not too bad. Then about two months ago I noticed that the SF popsicle section of my supermarket had been cut in half. They no longer stock the 24 pack, only the 12 pack and they are always out of them. I started going to another store and a similar thing happened. At that time I wrote to Popsicle to complain about the problem. I explained that as a bariatric patient who cannot drink with meals, SF popsicles are the thing that quenches my thirst. I did not receive a reply and I noticed the sf popsicle shelf space "disappearing" in several stores including big warehouse type stores and Walmart. This weekend I grabbed the last 12 pack at the local Albertsons and asked the man who worked in that aisle what was up with this. He said he thought they were "going away" or they would be part of a new package of SF creamsicles and fudgesicles (neither of which I like!!). I wrote to Popsicle again last night and don't know if I'll get a reply but was wondering if anyone else was experiencing the same thing. Maybe we should all write! — susanje (posted on May 18, 2004)

My favorite brand of sugar free popsicles is the blue bell bullets. I
never have trouble finding them in the grocery store. Do you have HEB
stores in your area? They make their own brand of sugar free popsicles too,
but they're not as good as the blue bell ones.

Wouldn't that be the same as drinking with your meals since it turns to
liquid almost as soon as it gets in the mouth? Just a curiosity question.

first of all, the manufacturer doesn't determine which stock is carried in
any store, that's determined by (in this case) the frozen foods manager,
and the general manager. and i would suggest that you speak with them to
address your concerns about stocking, product availability, etc. however,
if you want to have any questions answered by the manufacturer, then you
could use this contact information (which is on the good humor-breyers
icecream website:
<Because your comments are important to us, we've developed a form that
makes it easy to contact us. Click here to get started. Once your comments
have been received, we will send you an initial response in 1-2 business

it's harder to ignore a phone call than a letter, since obstensibly letters
can be lost, misdirected, etc, and calls have that sense of immediacy which
a letter will never have.
since there is a middleman between the manufacturer and the point of sale,
it's probably not much use to complain to the manufacturer about product
availability in an individual store, however, if the MANAGER confirms that
the product is no longer available, then contacting the manufacturer might
become helpful. and, btw, i've found that developing an acquaintace with
the various managers of relevant sections of the stores where i shop has
been helpful, in that i can then approach them with questions or
suggestions of products which hadn't til then been carried. in many cases,
i've been able to convince them to try stocking a new product, based upon
it's potential appeal to other wls patients. most of the time my requests
have paid off. btw, fyi though, popsicles are considered liquid

I love the Popsicle brand sugar-free popsicles and have never had a problem
getting them at multiple stores here in Virginia. Most stocking decisions
are made by the individual stores. I would suggest going in and asking if
you could place a special order for a case of them if you have freezer
space. Many of the grocery stores here will do that if you buy by the
case. Writing to the manufacturer won't do any good.

Do you have a Schwans in your area? or maybe you could order from them? I
get SF pops from them now and I imagine I will get more when I have
surgery! Heres their link

Thanks everyone. I have tried Walmart and they've been out of them but I
did look up Swans and will try them. I wish I lived near the person who
likes the orange ones! They're my least favorite! As for popsicles being
liquid, I don't see how they could possibly compare to even a few sips of
water with or after a meal. Since surgery I have had the hardest time
drinking water by itself...it hurts (still at almost 1.5 years out!) but if
I try to drink even a little with or after a meal, I am SICK. When I've
had a meal, I could not possible drink even a few sips without getting sick
or winding up in pain. With popsicles, I quench my thirst AND don't get
sick or feel ill. SF popsicles have been my lifesaver both after meals and
between meals. That is why I've been so concerned about them "going
away" as my store manager suggested they might be doing!

We are pretty much tripping over all of the SF things in this area, and I
have noticed a lot of new Blue Bunny products. I especially love their
sugar free Bomb Pops. Our local Woodman's store is FABULOUS about stocking
them, and it seems like there is a new one every week. I guess I consider
them liquid too, and would "lose my lunch" if I have them after a
meal... but I do eat about two/evening a little before bed. Or end up
eating them in my sleep! But better them than cheesecake
:)

I agree with getting on friendly terms with different store managers or
dept. managers who actually place the orders with distributers. This has
gotten Soy Slender in my favorite coffee house in town, a nice local place
who listens to customers. With the "normal pouchers" going
low-carb crazy, we are getting pounded with SF things.

I have noticed too that a lot of things are being pulled and the packages
come back re-designed to say LOW CARB on them! LOL. A local store actually
had an ad that said "Low Carb Brocolli"!!!

Just went to the Super Scary WalMart last night - Popsicle (brand) now has
a killer variety pack - 20 popsicles: their regular SF pops, creamsicles
and fudgesicles!!!! Also, Blue Bunny has a new variety p[ack of SF pops
(the traditional kind) but the box includes BANANA! YAHOO! Now if they
would only sell the Blue Rasp. in a box of SF... I know they have the
ingredients ;) Perhaps it is finally time to invest in a chest freezer :)
