Question:
I am 6 months post-op and my Dr. said
6 months p-o and my Dr. said not to lose any more. I started out at 297 and I am down to 177. 120 pounds gone, Thank God!! He said that I was at my idea weight and if I planned on having any plastic surgery done then not to lose any more. That when I had the tt and theighs done that it would be atleast another 10 pounds. I would love to end up at least 150-155. Would another 20 pounds hurt. I have been big for the last 20 years, I dont want to do the only half way. Why stop now????????????????? I dont feel to small. Thanks for listening. — LeeAnn W. (posted on April 2, 2004)

You're not done losing at 6 mo out. You really don't have a lot of control
of what you lose in the first year. Some are slow and some are fast
losers.Your body will stop when ITS ready. I'd go for the gold!

Listen to the Dr. It's funny how early on everyone is like "follow
your Dr to the T" but later on, it's more like, "do what you
want." The reason he said for you to stop is that he knows it'll take
a while for that to happen. If you increase calories now, you will slow
your weight loss but your malabsorption is too much right now to stop
anything completely. You have another 12 mos of prime weightloss time in
which I am sure you can manage to lose 20 pounds. Follow your Dr's orders.
You will still lose, just more slowly.

Why dont you just follow his orders for now, have your plastic surgey, then
lose more after the plastics till you get where YOU want to be. Its your
surgery, your life, your happiness. You didnt go through this to fall short
of your goals. I wouldnt recommend becoming anorexic or anything, but if
your BMI is still in a normal range, I dont see what the problem is!

Be careful about having plastic surgery too soon. If you have a tummy tuck
and lose more than another 15 pounds, you may need to have TT done again.
My plastic surgeon said it was okay to have arms and breast lift done but
not the LBL. Talk to the plastic surgeon. Wouldn't hurt to get a second
opinion.
