No 59 isnt too old, my surgeon does patients up to about
70.
http://www.wlscenter.com/ResearchArticles/RisksOfSurgery.htm

Is a list of complications hosted on barb thompsons website. She has a
wonderful book about WLS. Remaing mO in many cases is riskier than having
surgery and loosing the weight.

I was 54 when I had my lap RNY last summer. I also have/had a lot of
comorbidities. I have done fine. I am now down 110# and healthier than I
have been in years!
I just had open RNY Jan. 27th at Mayo Clinic and I turned 62 in February.
I had no real problems and I would urge you not to worry about your age. I
have lost 43 lbs. so far. My shortness of breath is gone already. My high
blood pressure is on its way down and I have a few other problems with a
rare disease they seem to think the loss of weight will help. I would not
worry about age. I'm glad I did it and I bet you will be too.
