Question:
I got that stock job at a grocery store for exercise, and wow

Wow I am getting LOTS of exercise:) Moving mountains of pepsi, and tons of fattening foods. Filled a Oreo display with about 200 cases of double stuffs. I guess its me, but I think of wierd things. Like my comment to a co worker! Imagine how much weight a person could gain if they ate all these Oreos. I showed a few people my before picture, they were all amazed. The people are nice. The managers are friendly. The work is hard physical effort, just what I need. 8 hours is kinda tough, I may request 4 or 5 hour shifts. I ache all over, I think thats a good thing, although not enjoyable.... Anyhow thanks to those who commented earlier when I asked about doing this and thought it was a good idea.    — bob-haller (posted on February 23, 2004)

Hey Bob, Congrats on the new job. Just remember if one of those cases of oreos should fall and open up.....walk away. (LOL) Beware of temptation. Seriously, hope you have a great time. I think that is awesome you are getting such great exercise in all day. Ann in TX

Hey Bob, Congratulations on the physical labor job. It is just what you needed. Don't be too quick to ask for shorter hours. Of course, you are sore right now. You are not used to the strenuous labor and using muscles you haven't been using a lot of. Give it two weeks and allow your body time to adjust to this new work. I think you will find you can handle 8 hours comfortably after you build your endurance level.

Glad to talk to another fellow grocery store employee. I also work in a grocery store. I have for 25 years. Now at 163 lbs lighter than I was 1 year ago, I too have opt for a more physical job. No I'm not stocking, but rather a personal shopper. It amazes me the stuff people will buy. Do you find yourself more amazed at junk food? It's hard working all day around food and having it so accesible. Any new job is tough on you for the first few weeks. Hang in there, it will get easier. Email me anytime.

Its amazing, most foods are junk foods:( Although they have a lot of low carb foods too. I never liked Pop and other than buying some pepsi for friends never paid any attention to it or the number of pop types and how much they sell. A 70+ old buddy of mine laughs that he can do a chin up and I cant. Well after moving pop I should be able to do that something I have NEVER been able to do in my entire life:( I will be glad when I get used to it, I ache all over. next work nite is wednesday so I have a couple days to recoop. So far being around all that food hasnt really made me hungry.

You Go BOB!! keep up the great work. If it's tough just SLOW down at the time you're feeling pooped. Over time it will get so much easier and you'll think, hey this used to kick my butt but now it's a breeze. Congrats to you!! Ann R.

BOB, I ALSO HAVE A PART TIME JOB AT THE GROCERY STORE. I AM A CASHIER. MY JOB IS NOT AS PHYSICAL AS YOUR, BUT IT BEATS SITTING IN FRONT OF THE T.V. IT ALSO KEEP ME FROM SNACKING WHEN I AM WORKING. 4 TO 5 HOURS SHIFT WORKS BEST FOR ME.
