Question:
No weight loss since going to Curves!!!
I have been going to Curves for 1 month now. I go 4 days a week. When I am there I work hard, push myself. I love it, but I am starting to worry that it is keeping me from losing weight. When I was only walking 2 miles a day/4 days a week I was losing steady. I am 6 months out and down 91 pounds, with 38 more to go. Will I ever get that last 38 off or what? Trying to stay positive, but worried. Thanks for your comments. Stepahnie — Stephanie G. (posted on February 12, 2004)

Are you still walking? The walking might of been more of a work-out for you
then Curves. Also, have you checked to see if maybe you are losing inches
and not pounds? I am almost 7 months out and have just hit my first
platue, 20/25 more pounds to go and I guess I will have to fight for
everyone.
You will start to lose again! Keep the faith!

I am not a member of Curves.. but I have learned some about the workout..
and it could be that its not quite enough for you to get those last few
pounds off.. I'd add in more walking and see what happens...

I go to Curves as well. The first month I lost 2 lbs and 6 inches. So far
this month down 8 lbs. If you are working hard you could be building muscle
from the fat. It would not be the working out that would casue the plateau.
Eat lost of protein and drink plenty of water. Hang in there.

We are all so different with how fast we lose this weight!!!!!!!!! Keep
the big picture in mind you are almost at goal and you are only 6 months
out!!!!!!!!!! You have a 24 month window to lose weight and the closer you
get to goal the slower it comes off!!!! I go to Curves 5 days a week and I
am nearly 17 months out. I have lost 20 inches and 20lbs since I started 4
months ago. I was walking and jogging over 5 miles a day and the scale
wouldn't budge. Give it some time some months I shrink more than others.
Our bodies struggle to adjust to our ever shrinking frames so dont get
discouraged the weight will come off. I might ask if perhaps your eating
has increased in the last month or so???? My appetite increased around
that time so my activity level had to also in order to keep losing. Don't
worry keep moving and the weight will go. Wendi Open RNY 9/19/02 down

I have been going to a Curves-like fitness center for 2 months. The first
month I only lost 4 lbs. but the 2nd mo lost about 10. I have lost quite a
few inches and feel great.I'm 9 mos. post-op & have lost 97lbs. Some
of the other ladies at the fitness center have been going 2 mos. &
haven't lost. Everyone loses at a different rate. Hang in there!

Don't forget you can "gain" weight when exercising because you
are building muscles - so you are not gaining fatty weight it is muscle
weight - and eventually you will see fatty weight lose also. Don't get
discouraged - just ask any personal trainer and they will tell you this - I
would stop weighing and continue to follow the regimen you're on.

You have been going for one month, did you get weighed and measured yet? I
truly believe that the measurements are more accurate then the scale. How
many rounds do you go? I would switch it up a little bit, work hard M-W-F
and then go jog or walk on T-TH. Plus, the more days you go the higher the
risk of bulking muscle. I believe Curves is a wonderful workout and I have
seen such great results myself. I haven't had surgery yet but I've lost
over 30 pounds and over 30 inches in 8 months. I'm glad you love your
Curves but don't give up on the workout yet, since it's only been one
month. Good luck and keep smiling!

My aunt had her surgery a couple of months ago and is currently going to
Curves, also. She has been busting her butt, thinking the extra work will
help but it has done the opposite. It's actually slowing down her weight
loss. She's losing some weight but she's putting back on muscle weight.
It's goos to have an exercise regimen but you may be pushing your self too
hard. I would maintain an exercise program but don't kill yourself.
