Question:
Anyone experience severe upper abdominal pain?
I am 8 months post op and everything was fine until this morning. I drank my protein shake as usual, had a few sips of coffee, then started experiencing severe pain right in the middle of my upper abdomen. Took my breath away, could not sit, felt faint and shaky. Once I stood up, the pain subsided, but now comes and goes every few minutes. Sometimes its so bad I can't function. Anyone know what this could be? Doc is in surgery all day today and the nurses are no help... — ttilles (posted on February 12, 2004)

I would talk to your Surgeon for sure! I get the same thing, almost called
911 a couple times from the pain, but now I know for me it is just really
bad gas pains, it even wakes me up from a dead sleep sometimes and I have
to rock myself until I pass back out, it really hurts! I can't say that is
what yours is, but I did'nt start getting that until about 8/9mo post-op.
Good luck and I hope you feel better :o)

If you havent had your gallbladder removed-- I would get that checked out.
Gallbladder can cause many different types of pain. It can even make you
think you are having a heart attack. Of course, if you dont have a
gallbladder than this couldnt possibly be an option!

Was just in the hospital this past weekend for the same thing. Found out I
had an infection in my pouch, plus a twinge of constipation. You might
want to consider taking a stool softener as part of your regular vitamin
routine to help keep things going in the right direction. I had no idea I
was constipated. Poop every day, but just not enough I guess. Cleaning
out has really helped me to feel better. Good luck.
