Question:
Is it normal to be on a six week plateau at 7 months out?
I had Lap/RNY on 6/30/03 and have lost exactly 100 pounds. I feel great and is happy with my progress thus far. However, I'm addicted to the scale and have become depressed as it hasn't moved in over a month. I don't exercise like I should or get in enough water. But, I try and get in enough protein and make good food choices. Is it over for me at 7 months? I know I must increase my water intake and exercise. But, I really need to know is a plateau of this length normal? Will I make it to my goal of 160? TW 290/190/Goal 160 — [Deactivated Member] (posted on February 5, 2004)

I had Lap RNY 8/6/03 and have only lost 64 lbs. You are BLESSED to have
lost what you did. Supposedly if we still follow the rules we will lose
more weight. I guess we shall see won't we? God bless you in your journey

I lost 103# my first 6mo and it took me the last 6-7mo to get off the last
30#, which I now keep gaining and losing the same dang 10lbs over and over
and I still want to lose that 10lbs plus another 10lbs and keep it off. I
just keep hitting plateau after plateau, but I guess we can't lose for
ever. Good luck and you are doing just fine!

Hi Tina, I had my surgery on 02/19/03 and lost 165lbs by my 9th month and
then nothing for 8 weeks after that. I did everything right water protein
and exercise everyday for 2 hours and still nothing. Then for no reason it
started up again and I have been losing about 5 or 6 lbs a week now.
Eveybody is different so hang in there it will start up again just know
that I did increase my water and protein a little and I think thats what
got me going again. Good Luck and the scale will start to move again just
give it some time and keep up the good work.

At a year out I was waffling with the same few pounds foir about a month
and when I cut out the carbs completely and started pounding the water
again I lost 9 pounds in 2 weeks. I am less than 5 pounds from my goal so I
guess if we follow the rules to a tee it still works. As you get closer to
your goal it definitely gets harder but it can be done and the only way to
do that is by not messing with your diet at all. I really thought I was
done 10 pounds ago but alas I am not. You really have to look at yourself
as a person who just needs to lose 30 pounds no instead of what you are
used to thinking about a person who has to lose 130 pounds. I found that
refocussing like that really helped me to rededicate myself as well as
helping me to recognize my accomplishments. When did you ever think that
you would just be a girl trying to lose a few pounds???? Shocking, huh?
Good Luck and great job so far!!! Lap RnY 1/15/03 277/152/147

It happened to me. It wasn't until about 2 weeks before I had my tt at
month 9, that the weight loss kicked in again. You MUST start exercising,
it TRULY makes the difference in keeping the weight loss going AND making
your body look better.
