I know that my support group has invited a pharmacist, Psych doctor,
Medical doctor, health club director, nutritionist, plastic surgeon, etc.
We have also had people speak on their experiences usually if they are over
a year post- op. They prepare and give their story. Just some info for you
good luck

hi, i just skimmed over your profile and see that you read colleen cooks
book. i recommend you give her a call and/or attend one of her support
group leader training sessions. as you know she is with bariatric support
centers international and they have their own website. she would be more
than happy to help you with some ideas. tell her patsy in las vegas,
referred you.

I love the format of one of the support groups I attend. The first 1/2
hour is a guest speaker, followed by 20 minutes or so of questions. Then
the 2nd hour we break down into smaller groups by how far out you are. The
group leader is usually the one furthest out in that particular group.
Being almost 2 years post-op, I get no benefit to being in a support group
filled with pre-op or early post-op concerns. The small break out group is
perfect for me as we can concentrate on the issues that effect us as longer
term posties. One of the guest speakers was a long term postie who had a
gazillion recipes for protein shakes. She had several blenders, lots of
ingrediants, dozens of baby paper cups and we all got to sample. My
favorite guest speaker!!
